Guided Reading

We use Grammarsaursus Comprehension Crushers to explicitly teach word reading and reading fluency through a range of activities including echo reads, timed reads, and fluency grids. Comprehension Crusher units last two weeks and the focus of the learning comes from the content domains specified in the National Curriculum. Each reading unit focuses on two or three of the content domains and the units are arranged to ensure complete curriculum coverage.

Writing

Writing skills are developed through the explicit teaching of writing. In the Autumn term, children complete a grammar-based unit called the Place Value of Punctuation and Grammar. When this first unit has been completed, Grammarsaurus writing unit guides are used to support teachers in creating a bespoke learning journey for their class.
