Reception - Oak Class
Welcome to Reception Class.
Hello and welcome to Reception's page. 
Mr Postans is our Class Teacher - We are supported by Teaching Assistants, Mrs Hills & Miss Shekells.
 
We are very busy in Reception learning lots of new skills and solving problems. 
 
We enjoy singing and dancing activities and making lots of things with junk!! We can't wait to use our outdoor environment as much as possible where we learn and play in the various areas such as construction, water and den building. We love reading books and enjoy social time with our friends when we get to chat and tell stories about our home and families. We have daily phonics and maths lessons and learn about the world through our Fantastic topics which are:

This is the final foundation year for your children, they will have access to a range of areas of learning including:

Four Specific areas of learning:
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts & Design
 
Three Prime areas of learning:
  • Personal, Social & Emotional development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication & Language
 
Forest School:

On a Friday morning we go to Forest School, during this time the children will have chance to explore the outdoor grounds. They will have the chance to build different objects, explore the outdoor musical instruments, search for mini beasts and take part in lots of nature walks. The children should have a pair of wellies and waterproofs in school at all times. The school can supply a purple all in one waterproof suit for a small cost, if you are interested please speak to the school office.

PE:

Oak class take part in PE on a Tuesday afternoon. Children are to come to school in PE kits. Please ensure that every item is clearly labelled

Snow White Pantomime came to school
In Forest this half term we have be working on our shelter building, knot tying, tree/insect identifications
Year 2 had a visit from the Fire Brigade. We also went to see the Fire Engine and we had a go at using the hose.

We went on our Christmas trip to All things Wild. 
Spring 1
Forest this half term we have:
- Lit a fire
- Made homes for an owl
- Practiced our knots
PE - This half term we have been doing dance with Mrs Mansfield
Fine Motor - We have been creating images using small parts. 
We have been very busy this half term. 
Spring 2

In maths we have been working on number and shape. We are getting really good at our maths skills. 

We have been doing gymnastics this half term in PE.

We went on a hunt for spring around the school grounds. We found a surprising treat at the end of our hunt. 

Mrs Green brought a baby lamb to visit is as part of our spring topic.

We had a fantastic trip to Bishops Wood where we explored Spring. 
This week in maths we have been looking at number bonds to 10 and movement patterns. 
We went on the wall bars in gymnastics. 
Summer
PE this half term we are working outside on our Ball Skills. 

We had a visit from Droitwich Police. We talked about how the police help us and all the things they do. We got to try on the police uniform and even the handcuffs. We then went outside and got to go in the Police car and vans. Poor Mrs Mansfield got handcuffed and put in the van. Don’t worry she was let out again for good behaviour. We had lots of fun.
