Chestnut Class 2020/21

Classes

Year 3 - Chestnut Class
We've really enjoyed our Rocks topic in Science. We finished it off today with an experiment testing the permeability of different soil. Everyone brought in a sample of the soil from their garden and we had a lovely morning using funnels and filter paper to test their permeability. We had a range of different results and enjoyed watching to see how quickly the water travelled through the soil! The previous week we enjoyed digging in the soil around school to learn more about it's composition.
It's been a busy couple of weeks in Year 3. We've worked really hard to learn the new routines and everyone has settled in fantastically and is working really hard.

We've loved our tennis lessons at the tennis club. Every day we do an 'Active 5' minutes which ranges from Joe Wicks to Just Dance! In Science this week we enjoyed pretending to be palaeontologists and excavate chocolate chips from cookies! In Computing with Mrs Mansfield we enjoyed programming the Beebots.

We're also really enjoying seeing everyone's homework on Class Dojo, don't forget to keep checking the app for new tasks!
We've been really busy this week! In Topic we used atlases to locate key cities around the UK. In Science we are learning about rocks this half term. Today we tested 8 different rocks to find out more about their properties. We've also been lucky enough to enjoy the sunshine at our tennis lessons and by doing our Daily Mile!
It's been a busy first week back at school! Everyone has worked really hard. We've enjoying finding clues from the Minpins, testing biscuits for the best dunker and getting used to the new routines and rules. Well done everyone!
