Our first tennis lesson this term

KS2 Sports Morning

As our end of topic treat, the teachers decided that we would have a sports morning in the sunshine. We were in rainforest animal teams, each with a team captain. On Tuesday afternoon we practised our skills ready to win! On Wednesday morning we took part in races, a rounders game and we even had a ice lolly to cool down in the shade half way through. Well done to the ‘Cheetahs’ who were the winning team!

Sports Day 2013

Last Friday we had our annual Sports day and this year it didn’t rain! We took part in all the races for our houses. Sapphire won! Then we had a picnic with our families afterwards. It was a great day. Thank you to all our parents who came and cheered us on.

Sports Afternoon at Sytchampton

On a very hot Friday Beech Class went to Sytchampton First school for an afternoon of Sport. We were put into teams and enjoyed trying out many different activities. Dodge ball, javelin, football and beanbag throwing were just a few of the activities. When all the scores were added up Ombersley won! Well done Beech Class. It was a great afternoon and we enjoyed getting to know some of the Sytchampton children. Thank you to Mrs Pittaway for taking us there in the minibus.

Last Wednesday the rain held off long enough for us to have our annual tennis lesson at Ombersley tennis club. We did a warm up first to help us think about moving effectively around the tennis court. We played lots of short games against different partners whilst Luke gave us tips about how to improve. We were loads better than we were last year!

On Monday 18th March we went bellboating.  We managed to find the only warm, sunny day of the year so far and we had a fantastic time!  Andy Train taught us how to paddle correctly and we enjoyed working as a team to travel from Droitwich to Hadley and back.  What a fantastic day it was.

Swimming Gala

Last Friday 9 children from years 3 and 4 went to Worcester to compete in a swimming gala. Out of 12 schools that entered we finished in 6th place which we were extremely proud of! Everyone swam as fast as they could and we had a fantastic afternoon. A special well done to Maddie and Jacob who won their ‘Ball Relay’ race. Next year we will try and finish even higher!

Golf Festival

On Thursday we were lucky enough to visit Gaudet Luce for a golf festival. We improved our chipping and putting skills and were allowed to practice hitting the ball as hard as we could on the driving range! We had a lovely morning and luckily it didn’t start raining until we were back at school!

Tennis day at Ombersley Tennis Club

It was our annual tennis day at the tennis club on Wednesday. First we warmed up with lots of races and then we tried out our tennis skills. Luke, the tennis coach, showed us some new skills.  It was not as easy as we thought it would be! But there were definitely some Andy Murray’s and Laura Robson’s in the making! It was great fun and it didn’t rain. If you would like to try out some more tennis coaching sessions at Ombersley tennis club you can contact the coach by email at or look at the tennis club website
