A big thank you to all the staff, parents & friends of the school who attended the quiz night last Friday.

2013 Summary

The Friends have had a fantastic year raising in excess of £3,800 for the school with the many events that have been organised throughout the academic year.

Along with funding carried over from last year, the Friends have purchased the Coomber equipment for Year 2, the sound system for the school and are also financing the purchase of a projector for the school.
The Friends have also financed the children’s Christmas party and the leaver’s party and contributed to the panto, summer term trips and the end of school trips.

Without the help of you, the parents, we would not be able to organise and fund the events that we do and contribute to the education of our children. We would love to see some new faces and hear new ideas in September. Details of our next meeting will be added to the calendar and the newsletter, so keep an eye out.

Thank you!

Our Maths lesson with Parents

On Thursday 15th November we invited our parents to join in with our maths lesson.  We had a fantastic time giving directions using the 8 compass points.  We had to try and beat each other to give directions using the least amount of moves.  Thannk you to all of the parents for attending, we look forward to seeing you again next term.

Christmas Market!

Last week we worked very hard making all our things for our Christmas market. Mrs. Osborn challenged us to make the most profit using our £10 budget. We undertook market research to see what we could make and then we set about making for the rest of the week.

We made 5 items in total and worked every day to make sure they were all ready for Friday’s market. Our record was Thursday morning when we made 105 cakes before playtime!

On Friday our stall was popular and we sold everything that we had made. Our profit was a very impressive £76.10! Thank you to everyone who visited our stall and well done Chestnut class for all your hard work making our stall a success!

Maths Morning

On Wednesday 28th November we invited our Mums and Dads into school for a maths lesson. Lots of parents came and we had a very busy lesson showing them the different ways that we learnt about numbers. We played games, used number lines and tried to solve a tricky puzzle! Thank you to all the parents who attended, we loved having you and will see you again next term.

Maths Morning

More maths! This week the parents of Year 2 were invited to come and join their children for a maths lesson, to see what fun maths is! We were focusing on problem solving and the children impressed the parents with their mental maths strategies. We played Count Me in, worked out which decorations to put on the tree, how many different outfits the snowman could pick from and different ways the snowman could pay for his party food. The children all enjoyed working with their parents and some of the parents impressed us with their mathematical knowledge too! Thank you to all the parents who came.We hope you enjoyed it.

Christmas Market 2012

Well done to Beech Class for being the winners of the Christmas Market competition. We made a profit of £98.50. Well done children and parents.

This week we have been getting ready for The Christmas Market. Mrs Osborn sent us a letter with a £10 note. She challenged us to see how much money we could make. We decided to make gift tags, Christmas tree decorations and cakes and biscuits. So we got to work. It was like Santa’s workshop!

The Toy Museum

Finally, after all our hard work this term, we opened our Toy Museum! We had a wonderful afternoon. Look at all the things we put out for our visitors to look at- old toys and information about them, puppets and a puppet show, instructions for making a Victorian toy called a Thaumatrope, stories about Lost Toys, questionnaires and lots of delicious cakes and biscuits that we had made for the cafe. Thank you to all our visitors and for the lovely messages you left for us.

And next Friday it’s the Christmas market so we have lots to do again this week. Don’t forget to come and visit us on Friday afternoon.
