Year 2 Sports Week

Sports week 2014

Sports Week was great fun! We tried out lots of different sports, many of which we hadn’t tried before, and thought about how we could be more healthy.

Every morning started with Wake and Shake to get us ready for the day ahead. We even got the parents to join in on Friday morning. On Monday Mrs Rusby came in to teach us Yoga.  We really enjoyed it. She taught us how to stretch, breathe and relax.

On Tuesday Tom showed us some Ju-jitsu moves and in the afternoon we learnt how to play Tag Rugby. Otis enjoyed it too.

Wednesday was our Skipping day and Lorraine showed us some new skipping tricks. We liked the Funky Monkey best. In the afternoon our parents came to see our exhibition of skipping, where we showed them all the things we had learnt. We also got to see what the other classes had been doing too.

On Thursday we went over to the tennis club for a tennis session with the coach, Luke. After a warm up we tried out our skills to see if we could keep a rally going. Here we come Wimbledon!

Finally on Friday we all came to school dressed in different sport’s outfits. Then we had great fun taking part in a Sport’s event organised by the Key Stage 2 children. They were very good Sports’ leaders. Thank you Key Stage 2. We took part in eight different events and then the scores were added up. England won! Well they had to win something this week! In the afternoon we even found some time for a Maypole practice!

At the end of the week two children from each class were awarded with Sports certificates, in assembly, for their attitude and skills shown during Sports week. What a great week it was!

Year 1 Sports Week 2014

What a fantastic week we have had during Sports week.

Our week began on Monday with Wake and Shake, which we did every morning. This was followed by a Numeracy / PE lesson where we timed each other doing lots of different activities. Then after break we did Athletics with Miss Olsen. She taught us techniques for sprinting to get us ready for our Sports Day. In the afternoon we enjoyed some yoga with Mrs. Rusby. She taught us how to stretch, breathe and relax.

On Tuesday Tom showed us how to play Tag Rugby and we really enjoyed the warm-up and team games.

Wednesday was ‘Skipping Day’. We had great fun learning to skip, some of us were fab already! Then we showed our parents what we had learnt at the end of the day.

We loved the tennis on Thursday afternoon with Luke.

On Friday we all came to school dressed in sport’s outfits.

The week ended with a lovely sports event arranged for us by Key Stage 2. They had worked really hard and really looked after us. We had a great time ~Thank you!

On the afternoon we watched the Maypole dancers rehearse for the Church Fete.

We even did a bit of dancing in Show and Tell ~ one of our classmates taught us how to ballet dance!

Thank you to Mrs. Hobbs for arranging so many wonderful sports for us throughout the week! We enjoyed every minute of it!!

Year 3 Sports Week

This week we have all enjoyed taking part in lots of different sports and thinking about how we could lead a healthy lifestyle. We started our week by beginning to plan our multi-sports event for Key Stage 1. We all took on a role and thought about the different activities we could do.

On Tuesday we learnt Ju-Jitsu with Tom and after a busy morning we relaxed with some yoga that Mrs Rusby taught us in the afternoon.

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to take part in 2 skipping sessions- we were much better than before! We also went to our usual swimming lesson.

Thursday was a busy day! We finished planning our event and made sure that everything was ready. After an early lunch we travelled to Gaudet Luce where we spent an afternoon in the sun with Russell and Ashley practising our golf skills. We had a fantastic time and were impressed that we had remembered lots from our golf lessons.

Thanks to our careful preparation our multi-sports even for Key Stage 1 was a huge success and everyone enjoyed taking part.
