Poppy Collages

This week KS2 have been feeling very artistic! We have learnt how to use collage techniques to produce our collages. We used a poppy painting by Georgia O’Keeffe as our inspiration as they are a symbol of WW2. First, we learnt how to collage with different materials before we applied these new skills to recreating Georgia O’Keeffe’s painting. We then worked with a partner to design our own collage, based around a poppy. We could change the colour, layout, size and number of poppies- we used our imaginations! They all look fantastic and will be on display very soon!

Autumn Week – Willow Weaving

In Autumn Week we learnt how to weave with willow.  We created bird feeders and snails.  We had to plait with 7 pieces of willow!

January 2013

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely break. We have been busy learning all about our new topic- The Ancient Egyptians. We learnt about where Egypt was and this week we have been making fantastic masks of Egyptian Gods.

We had to research our God in groups and then we experimented with different sculpture techniques (Mod-roc and Papier Mache). Once we had decided which material we wanted to work with we used chicken wire and our base mask to create the shape of our God’s headress.

We then used Mod-roc to create a solid 3D sculpture and once it had dried we painted them. They look fantastic!
